What are the Benefits of Laser Vision Correction?
Would you like to wake up and be able to see clearly straight away, rather than needing to scramble around to find your glasses or get up and put contacts in? Do you wish you didn’t need to remember to take your glasses everywhere when you go out, or that you didn’t struggle to put your contact lenses in during the spring and summer when the pollen count is high, and your eyes feel irritated and sore? For countless people, this is now a possibility thanks to the invention of laser vision correction.

How does laser vision correction work?
Laser vision correction is a simple, painless procedure during which a laser is used to make changes to the corneal tissue in order to reshape it. In doing so, the refractive errors which cause the patient to have vision problems can be addressed and their reliance on glasses will be reduced or eliminated entirely.
There are several different methods of laser vision correction. The most commonly known is LASIK during which the corneal tissue is accessed through a flap cut into the outer corneal tissue, called the epithelium, by the laser. After the cornea has been reshaped, the flap is closed and left to heal. The other popular variety of laser eye correction is known as PRK. The difference between this and LASIK is that the entire epithelium is removed by the laser so that the underlying cornea can be reshaped. The epithelium will then regrow naturally as part of the healing process.

The popularity of laser vision correction speaks for itself, so let’s take a look at the benefits that it can offer you and your vision.

You will be given anesthetic drops ahead of the procedure too, so you won’t be in any pain during your laser eye surgery.
Improved confidence in your appearance. While the frames used in glasses are better than ever, many people simply don’t like the way that they look when wearing them. As such, not relying on them can give you improved confidence in your appearance.
Improved eye health. Contact lens wearers are more likely to suffer irritation and infection since they need to touch their eyes when they place and remove them. Irritations such as pollen and dust can also make your eyes sore and cause ocular problems. However, after you have had laser vision correction you should have little to no need to wear contacts and can benefit from improved eye health.
No inconvenience. When you opt for laser eye surgery, you no longer need to worry about taking your glasses everywhere you go or being able to see without them. Life is much easier when you don’t need to rely on prescription eyewear.
Results that could last a lifetime. Changing prescriptions can be an expensive time as you may need to update your lenses each time so that you can see clearly. Fortunately, many people who have laser vision correction find that the results of their procedure
